Another serving of opera-glove cheesecake, this time from a classic Hollywood dish. Here's Linda Darnell, one of the loveliest stars of the 1940's, showing off her splendid legs - and an equally splendid pair of black opera gloves - in a promo shot for one of her movies (possibly "Hangover Square"?):

For the Love of Opera Gloves presents nearly 80 images of Miss Darnell in gloves of all lengths - mostly, of course, long ones - at The Linda Darnell Glove Gallery.

Some cheesecake for you to look at today - and what's more, _local_ cheesecake! The beauty in the black PVC lingerie and black satin operas is Leeann Tweeden, a popular lingerie/swimsuit model who hails from Manassas Park, VA, right next to Manassas, VA, where your webmaster lives:

Good morning, folks. Time for your daily report from the Opera Glove Blog!

And the report is; nothing much. Since I'm taking care of other business this week, I haven't really had the time to do anything much with the website, so, as I said yesterday, the next update may not come until next week. Given the sheer amount of material available, I doubt that that will much bother anyone to wait a few more days. :)

The POTD feature keeps right on rolling along, though. Today's snapshot is a cute double portrait of French stars Brigitte Bardot and Jeanne Moreau dolled up in their travelling can-can-girl roles in Louis Malle's 1966 (or maybe it's 1967?) film "Viva Maria" (which is also on my vidcap list);

Leaving aside her modern-day sociopolitical opinions, Brigitte was one of the supreme bombshells of the 1950's, up there with Marilyn and Gina; some 120 images of La Bardot in opera gloves may be viewed at The Brigitte Bardot Glove Gallery!

I'm not sure if there's going to be a update this week, actually, though there certainly will be one before the month is out. Several reasons; I'm tired from the massive effort I put in on site reconstruction over the past month and a half, I have other business to transact, and perhaps most importantly, I'm at some loss as to _what_ to post because there's still so much available, especially vidcaps!

Speaking of vidcaps, I'm still reviewing "The Great Sinner", which turns out to be a great glove movie; Ava Gardner wears three different pairs of elbow-lengths in the first forty minutes alone. Will be converting the appropriate scenes to MPEG soon. There's not a whole lot coming up on TCM in November, which will give me some breathing room and time to catch up!

And speaking of North Carolina's pride, this is a classic portrait shot of Ava from the aforementioned movie; note the "point" detail on the back of her gloved hand -

I have some 100 images of Ava Gardner - all too few, alas! - in opera gloves at The Ava Gardner Glove Gallery.

This time we're on time...

I did tape "The Great Sinner", and while I've only reviewed the first fifteen minutes or so there's already at least one good glove scene, though the era the film is set in (the 1860's) is wrong for long gloves; wrist-length gloves were standard in that period. But then, classic Hollywood was not known for obsessive attention to detail.

Today's POTD is one of the stars of the Edwardian stage, Lena Ashwell, in one of the ubiquitous "photo postcards" that were all the rage during the 1900's:

Nearly 480 images of actresses, singers and other well-known ladies of the Belle Epoque in long gloves can be found at Edwardian Celebrities in Opera Gloves.

Uh-oh. Also, oops.

I apologize very much for the delay in putting up the daily post today. The best excuse I can offer is that I was searching for more Sabrina Salerno glove pictures (and, in fact, I found them!!), plus which, today was a work day. In fact, I was so busy that I almost forgot to tape "The Great Sinner", a classic Ava Gardner glove-film that I'd been looking for for three years, and had to make an unscheduled trip home in the middle of the day to do so. (Never fear, though, because I got it on tape!)

Well, then, without further ado, here's the POTD for Monday, October 21:

This is a fine example of a contestant from a Chinese-style beauty contest, where the contestants often wear cheongsams, the high-necked, high-slit, extremely slinky gowns which are Chinese culture's sexiest and most stylish contributions to the universe of fashion. As cheongsams, which are typically short-sleeved, lend themselves well to being accessorized with long gloves, I have sizable collection of photos of this fashion at For the Love of Opera Gloves.

Today's POTD is a hot shot of the sexy, voluptuous Italian star Sabrina Salerno onstage:

Sabrina, one of the biggest stars in a nation renowned for its beauties, can be seen in all her glory at The Sabrina Salerno Glove Gallery.
