Also, if anyone reading this knows how to import an image from another site so that it will show up as the background to this blog, please contact me.

If anyone reading this knows of a movie that's not currently featured on the site that has a good opera-glove scene, send the name of the film and the name(s) of the actress(es) wearing the gloves to me at jadmirel@earthlink.net or webmaster@operagloves.com. Sexy flicks are OK as long as the opera-glove scenes don't involve XXX activity or full-frontal nudity.

Oh yes, I almost forgot; I also invested in a new Western Digital 40GB hard drive which is now installed in the system as the secondary HD. And a good thing too - I was running out of space on the partition I had dedicated to site data. I now have 7.6 GB (out of 9.3 GB usable) open on the dedicated partition.

Movies with good opera-glove scenes I wish would come out on DVD:

Cafe Society (Lara Flynn Boyle)
The Prisoner of Zenda (Elke Sommer)
The Last Remake of Beau Geste (Ann-Margret)
The Reluctant Debutante (Sandra Dee, Kay Kendall)
Les Girls (Kay Kendall, Mitzi Gaynor, Taina Elg)
Liquid Dreams (Candice Daly)
The Merry Widow (Lana Turner)
Sex and the Single Girl (Natalie Wood)
Viva Maria! (Brigitte Bardot, Jeanne Moreau)

Incidentially, the project I mentioned on May 6th just concluded. I expect to be able to buy some more DVD's and tapes for the site library with the proceeds; I've already collected "Lillian Russell" (Alice Faye), "Lady Chatterley's Lover" (Sylvia Kristel) and the DVD of "The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover". The DVD of "The Great Race" comes out next week.

A further reminder; please be sure to contribute something to the Amazon Honor System tip jar whenever you visit. It's completely voluntary and completely anonymous - and there's no set minimum except the constraints imposed by the mechanics of the system itself; you can put in a little as $1 at a time. Thanks to those who've put something in the kitty!

On other opera-glove fronts, I am moving now to get some of the vidcap backlog out of the way. Very shortly - within the next two to three days, possibly - I intend to post an all-vidcap update consisting of movies with a Napoleonic/Regency-era theme:

Emma (Gwyneth Paltrow)
Imperial Venus (Gina Lollobrigida)
Love and Death (Woody Allen)
Madame (Sophia Loren)
Napoleon and Josephine (Jacqueline Bisset)
War and Peace (Audrey Hepburn and Anita Ekberg)

"Emma" and "War and Peace" have existing vidcap collections which will be replaced and significantly improved and expanded with DVD-quality images; the rest are brand-new to the site. There will be 37 galleries with nearly 2,600 stills (exclusive of thumbnails).

After another hiatus, I at last have _real_ news to report; the new update to the site is up! Today is Marilyn Monroe's birthday - she would have been 76 - and so today's update is all-Marilyn. All the existing Monroe vidcaps have been redone from DVD's, and a new collection, from "Bus Stop". has been added.

Additionally, I have rescanned all the Marilyn images that I originally captured in August of 1999 when For the Love of Opera Gloves was getting underway. As I only had a little handheld scanner at the time, I was severely constrained in the size and quality of what I could scan; moreover, many of the images were scanned too light. This has been corrected, and over 160 images, including 80+ brand-new pictures, have been scanned at 300 dpi, 1024 x 768 average resolution.

But wait - there's more!! I have also added a new page composed solely of "super-size" Marilyn Monroe opera-gloved images. These pictures are all downloadable for free and can be printed out as posters, or you can just admire the incredible detail on your own computer screens (I recommend screen resolutions of at least 1024 x 768 to get the full effect).
